What does almost every hockey player do in the off season? Play Golf.
Wouldn't you like to see a few TV shows over the off season of your favorite NHL players matched up with their teammates taking on a division rival out on the golf course? I think so. After all, VERSUS used to be called the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). Why not have some hockey players out on the tees and out in the open.
The NHL could actually promote the personalities of these players rather than just the numbers on their backs. The competitive banter between the combatants would be worth the watch. You can even make it a tournament and the winning 4some gets money towards their charity of choice and of course, a trophy and bragging rights.
You won't see the technique of Tiger Woods, but you will see a few gems more out of the golf book of Charles Barkley. Who doesn't like seeing a horrible golf shot? I for one wouldn't mind seeing AO slice one into the woods only to try and comprehend the Russian gibberish that will ensue afterwords.
Hey, if you are lucky you may even see a fight. Think about it.
